John Crowell lived at Bass Ponds and was a son of Thomas Crowe of Bass Ponds.[1][3] The Crowell genealogy gives Thomas Crowe's birth as about 1645.[3]

John Crowell married Sarah O'Kellia, who is recorded as the eldest daughter of her parents.[1][3] The couple's son Thomas Crowell was born on 1 May 1691.[1][2]
