Voyage to Plymouth

Martha Ford's maiden surname is unknown; she was the widow of a Mr. Ford before she came to New England.[2] She arrived on the Fortune on 9 November 1621.[2] The Fortune passenger list of November 1621 records "Widow Ford and three children."[3] According to the Mayflower Society, she gave birth to her son John Ford on the night the Fortune passengers arrived in November 1621.[10]

Marriage and family

The couple had two daughters, Mary Browne, born about 1626, and Priscilla Browne, born about 1628.[1][5][7] In the 1627 Division of Cattle, Peter Browne is listed with his wife Martha, his daughter Mary, and his step-children John and Martha Ford.[9]

Wikipedia states that she died about 1630, while the Pilgrim Hall Museum states that she likely died not long after the 1627 Division of Cattle.[1][4][6] She was buried at Burial Hill in Plymouth.[1]

Ford is her first husband's surname; maiden name unknown. Her Ford children John and Martha were Peter's stepchildren.
