Ottie Rachel Gharrett Parker (née Gharrett) (8 October 1890 – 23 September 1964) was born in Illinois. She married Ernest Eldridge Parker. Her children were Gladys Parker Ailey, Jan Parker Dodge, Owen Ernest Parker, Mary Parker Lindsey and Kayle Wilbur Parker. She died in 1964, in Shawnee, Pottawatomie County, Oklahoma.
Marriage and family
Ottie Rachel Gharrett was the mother of Gladys Iola Parker, Goldie Mae Fern "Jan" Parker, Owen Ernest Parker, Mary Parker and Kayle Wilbur Parker.[2][8] Her daughter Jan (Parker) Dodge's obituary names her mother as Ottie (Gharrett) Parker, wife of Ernest Parker.[1][7] The birth records of Mary Parker and Owen E. Parker name Ottie Rachel Gharrett as their mother, and the birth record of Kayle Wilbur Parker names her as his mother.[9][10][11] Mary Parker was born on 14 January 1917 in Chandler, Lincoln, Oklahoma, when Ottie Rachel Gharrett was 26.[10] Kayle Wilbur Parker was born on 21 August 1922 in Chandler, Lincoln, Oklahoma.[9] Her husband Ernest Eldridge Parker lived from 1885 to 1947.[4]
Later life, death and burial
Ottie remarried Russell Whitehouse after Ernest Parker's death.[6] Sources disagree on her death year: one MyHeritage aggregate gives 1890 to 1963, while another and the Find a Grave memorial for her son Kayle give 1890 to 1964.[3][4] The Fairview Cemetery stone in Shawnee reads "OTTIE R. 10/8/1890, 9/23/1964", giving her birth as 8 October 1890 and her death as 23 September 1964.[5] Fairview Cemetery records list "WHITEHOUSE, RACHEL OTTIE, d. 9/23/1964", buried 26 September 1964 in Block 14, Lot 5, northeast quarter.[6]
