Early life
William Sherman Greene was born at Worcester, Massachusetts, on November 18, 1867.[2] A family photograph captioned "Harris R. Greene and his family" lists William among the children of Harris R. Greene, and the accompanying text notes that the principal's sons carried off honors and prizes at Yale.[5] William graduated from Yale University in the class of 1890.[1][2]
Marriage and family
On June 18, 1900, he married Rachel Russell Allen.[1][2] The couple had one son, William Sherman Greene Jr., born at East Orange, New Jersey, on September 27, 1901, to William Sherman and Rachel Russell (Allen) Greene.[1][2][4]
