Catherine Reynolds was born in August 1822 in England, according to the 1900 census Soundex card for the Mill Street household in Cleveland.[8]
Marriage and family
Cleveland city directories style her "wid. John", and the house at which she is listed, 26 Mill St, is the same house where John Reynolds died on 2 March 1883.[9] The marriage link between the two is inferred from the shared address and the widow's styling rather than stated directly in any record.[9]
Residences
Catherine Reynolds, widow of John, headed the household at 26 Mill St, later 29 Mill St, in Cleveland in every available city directory from 1885/86 to 1895/96.[5] Those directory entries list other Reynolds men at the same address, but state residence only and not relationship.[1][5] In June 1900 she was recorded at 29 Mill St as head of family, aged 77, born August 1822 in England, and living alone.[8]
Later life and death
A Cleveland necrology index entry records that a Catherine Reynolds died on Wednesday 15 July 1903, with a funeral from the residence of her daughter to a west-side Catholic church, but no source links that woman to the Mill St household.[2] A 2026 reading of the Reynolds cards in the Cleveland Necrology File found no card naming the Mill St family or linking a widow Catherine to the men listed at that address.[3] A separate Cleveland Reynolds family, whose parents were John and Catherine (née Smith), appears in necrology and census records at another address and is distinct from the Mill St widow.[4][6][7]
