Barbara Arnold (née Goetz) was born to Rowland Goetz and Gertrude Goetz.
Early life and education
The Winter 1969 centennial issue of Kappa Kappa Gamma's The Key listed "Barbara Goetz Arnold" with the notation "Carnegie-Mellon", an entry that documents her education at Carnegie Mellon University before her marriage.[4] An engagement notice indexed on MyHeritage described Barbara Goetz as "the daughter of Mrs. Rowland Goetz of Mt. Lebanon"; the snippet is unverified and is recorded only as a lead.[6] A Kappa Kappa Gamma directory published in The Key in Winter 1996 listed "Barbara Goetz Arnold", corroborating her maiden name Goetz and her marriage to an Arnold.[1]
Marriage and family
A Kappa Kappa Gamma alumnae list gave "Barbara Goetz Arnold" alongside her husband, supporting the family-stated maiden name of Goetz.[2] According to a Michigan Dairy Memorial Scholarship biography of her husband, he died in 1996 of cancer and was survived by his wife Barbara, two of their three children, and his father, mother and sister.[2][3]
