Marriage and family

Finley McCrerey's 1929 obituary states that he married Rose Ann on 23 December 1873 at Cameron, West Virginia.^[9] Etta Marie McCrerey's obituary identifies her as a daughter of Finley and Rose Ann McCrerey.^[8] That obituary names Mrs. Stella A. Lewis among Etta Marie's sisters, and a later obituary for Stella Lewis calls her the daughter of Finley and Rose Cox McCrerey.^[7][13] Etta Marie's obituary also lists Forrest B., Allan B. and William P. among her brothers in the same family.^[10][11][12] The Powhattan Cemetery transcription identifies Esther Annie, who died in 1885, as a daughter of Finley and Rose Ann.^[14] The same transcription groups Lillie B. with Finley and Rose Ann under the heading "Of Finley & RoseAnn," but does not state that she was their daughter, so the parental link remains speculative.^[15][16]
