George Denison of New London
George Denison of New London (28 March 1671 – 22 January 1720) was born to Capt. John Denison and Phebe Lay. He married Mary (Wetherell) Denison. His child was Phebe Denison. He died in 1720, in New London, Connecticut.
Early life
George Denison was born on 28 March 1671.[1][5] He was a son of Capt. John Denison and Phebe Lay.[5] His parents were married on 26 November 1667.[4]
Career
He was graduated from Harvard College and studied law.[1] He settled in New London, Connecticut, where he was town clerk, county clerk, and clerk of probate.[1]
Marriage and family
In 1694 he married Mrs. Mary (Wetherell) Harris of New London.[1][2] The New London town records list the birth of Phebe, daughter of George Denison and Mary his wife, on 3 March 1696/7.[3]
Later life and death
The Denison genealogy gives his death as 22 January 1720.[1] An entry in the same genealogy listing the children of Capt. John Denison instead gives 20 January 1719/20.[5]
