Early life

Isaac Allerton was born in Suffolk, England, about 1586.[1] His own deposition gave 1586 as his birth year, and the Leiden records called him a tailor of London.[8] One account holds that he was probably born at East Bergholt, Suffolk, about 1587, and belonged to a recusant community there.[13] He was the son of Bartholomew Allerton, a tailor of Ipswich and East Bergholt, and Mary.[37] In 1609, described as the son of Bartholomew Allerton late of Ipswich, Suffolk, tailor, he bound himself apprentice by indenture to a citizen and blacksmith of London.[12]
