Mary Johnson

née Johnson

1699–1731probable

Mary Johnson (1699 – 31 August 1731) was a member of the Johnson family. She married Mansfield Tapley (Taplin). Her children were Col. John Taplin and Johnson Taplin. She died in 1731, in Charlestown, Massachusetts.

Marriage and family

Mary Johnson was a daughter of a Charlestown family.[1] On 20 August 1718 she married Mansfield Tapley.[1][3] The surname appears as Tapley in the marriage record and as Taplin in a later genealogy.[1][4] According to that genealogy, Mansfield Taplin was a native of England who settled in Charlestown, Massachusetts, and his line of descent was through his son Col. John Taplin.[4] Johnson Taplin, the seventh son and eighth child of Col. John Taplin, was born on 1 July 1766 at the Taplin homestead in Newbury, Vermont.[2]

Later life and death

Mary died on 31 August 1731, aged 32.[1]
