Col. John Taplin (1726 – 1803) was born in Charlestown, Massachusetts to Mansfield Tapley (Taplin) and Mary Johnson. He married Hepsibah Brigham. His children were Major John Taplin and Johnson Taplin. He died in 1803.
Early life
Col. John Taplin was born at Charlestown, Massachusetts, in 1726 or 1727; a Taplin genealogical sketch gives 1727, while a Brigham family history gives 1726.[1][8] He was a son of Mansfield Taplin, a native of England who settled at Charlestown, Massachusetts, and died there in 1734.[10] His mother was Mary Johnson.[6]
