Dr. William Somervell was born to Col. Alexander Somervell and Rebecca Dawkins Somervell. His child was Alexander Somervell.
Parentage
Dr. William Somervell was of Calvert County, Maryland, according to the Kagy genealogy of 1899.[1] The Kagy genealogy names him as the father of Alexander Somervell, who married in 1832.[1][2] Stein's History of Calvert County records that Col. Alexander Somervell married Rebecca Dawkins.[3] Stein also records that Col. Alexander Somervell left a son William, who married, and a daughter, who married.[4] That son William has been identified, without proof, as the Dr. William Somervell of the Kagy genealogy, an identification resting in part on the name of Dr. William's son Alexander.[4]

According to the Kagy genealogy, Alexander Somervell, son of Dr. William Somervell, married on 6 November 1832.[1][2]
