Dr. Lucius Elkanah Eckles was born on January 15, 1905, in Topeka, Kansas.[2] The Eckles family book records that he was a son of William T. Eckles and Nellie Marie Kingman.[4]

According to the Eckles family book, Eckles graduated from the University of Kansas in 1927.[2] He graduated from Harvard University Medical School in 1931.[2] He was a pediatrician.[2]

Lee's obituary names Eckles as his father and Mona Nugent Kvalnes as his mother.[1][3]
