Q. I. Lewis is a member of the Lewis family. His child was Juanita Rose Lewis Mellenbruch.
Career
Q. I. Lewis is identified in the surviving records only by his initials, which the contemporary newspaper accounts do not expand.[1][2][4] The February 1927 Sabetha Herald described him as director of the Fairview band.[2][4] A published 1929 account quotes a report dated September 1, 1928, stating that the band was functioning under the leadership of Q. I. Lewis of Powhattan, Kansas.[3]
Marriage and family
A February 1927 marriage notice in the Sabetha Herald identified Juanita R. Lewis as a daughter of Q. I. Lewis, director of the Fairview band.[2][6] The same notice survives in an imperfect optical-character-recognition copy in which the wording is garbled but the initials and the description "director of the Fairview band" are legible.[1][5]
