Marriage and family
David Lewis was named as the father of groom John F. Lewis in the Harrison County marriage register for 29 October 1874.[2][4] The same register names Mary J. Lewis as the groom's mother.[4] A 1937 obituary for J. F. Lewis identifies him as a son of David and Mary Jenkins Lewis, although the accessible archive OCR has ambiguous punctuation.[1][3] The marriage register gives the mother's name as Mary J. Lewis, while the obituary appears to give it as Mary Jenkins Lewis.[1][3][4]
