Reuben George Washington Dodge (15 March 1815 – 29 May 1886) was born in Blue Hill, Maine. He married Caroline Augusta Allen, Betsey J. Cheever and Laguira Morgan. He had 6 children, including Agnes Ilanette Dodge, Anna Gardner Dodge and Sarah E. S. Dodge. He died in 1886, in Blue Hill, Maine.
Early life
Reuben George Washington Dodge was born at Blue Hill, Maine, on 15 March 1815.[2] Candage's town history lists him as the ninth child in the family record, followed by four younger siblings.[4]
Marriages and family
According to Candage's history, Dodge married first Betsey J. Cheever, second Laguira Morgan, and third Caroline A. Allen.[2][10][12] The same history names his first wife as Betsey Jackson in its list of his children.[8] By his first wife he had four children: Agnes Ilanette Dodge, born 1 December 1849; Anna Gardner Dodge, born 17 January 1852; Sarah E. S. Dodge, born 13 November 1853; and George A. Dodge, born 16 June 1856.[8][9][11][13] Agnes Ilanette Dodge died on 22 March 1859.[11] By his second wife, Laguira Morgan, he had a daughter, Agnes L. Dodge, born 30 May 1859.[14] He married Caroline Augusta Allen on 10 November 1862.[6] Reuben Ernest Dodge was a son of Reuben George Washington Dodge and Caroline Augusta Allen.[7]
Later life and death
Dodge died on 29 May 1886 at Blue Hill.[2] His obituary in the Ellsworth American of 3 June 1886 states that he died on Saturday evening, 29 May 1886, at Blue Hill, aged 71, and that he left a wife and eight children, all of whom were at home at the time of his death.[5]
